We loved the town and the neighborhood very much, and though the home needed a little TLC, we had such a good feeling when we walked through it. It was January when we closed keep in mind, so the landscaping was un-known to us.

After a year of project after project on the interior including floors, paint on every single wall, scraping and painting ceilings, replacing doors, removing a wall and then adding on a deck it was time to assess the landscaping. We had a problem. overgrown.pngCompletely overgrown
You can't tell by this picture, but there is in fact another window beneath the one you can see! It kept our basement as dark as a cave even on the brightest days. We did like the idea of these bushes, but they were so overgrown that it was impossible to save them. I tried slowly trimming them back, but all it did was exposed the dead inners and looked awful. Yet another surprise was the choking Pine tree that was completely engulfed in the large bush on the right side... We knew this was going to be a BIG job, but we had no choice but to yank these all out and start over.

I quickly realized that pulling this things out is not going to be easy and digging them out was flat out impossible. Luckily we were able to use our engine hoist. My daughter got a pretty good kick out of this and I'll admit I enjoyed it, too!

Digging this out was never going to happen.

HEY, THERE ARE TWO WINDOWS ON THE FRONT OF THIS HOUSE!

I built this window box to make my wife happy (she's always wanted one) and I have to say I absolutely love how it makes our home feel. It was pretty simple to make and much cheaper than going to a store and buying a vinyl one. Treated wood and steel re-bar leftovers from our deck build put to good use here! The shutters are also home-made and once again much cheaper to make than to buy. You can see the flowers barely sticking over the top, and there are flowers filling in that you can't even see. I figured if we were lucky maybe these would grow and fill in, but I never expected what they would turn into.

Fresh flowers planted and just barely peaking out of the window box!
Below you will see what Rev and SPE has done for my flowers. They are absolutely massive, hardy, and happy. The window box flowers are only planted in about 4" of cheap dirt. I mixed in a few handfuls of SPE prior to planting and the water retention is fantastic. These flowers have gone several days without water on many occasions and they go 10-14 days between feedings. I mix 1 oz of Rev and 1 oz of general purpose plant food per gallon of water every 10-14 days with regular waterings in between. The flowers in the window box are 19" tall!

These are some happy and healthy flowers!
These flower pots are our temporary solution for our landscaping. We have much more work to do and will be taking out all of the rock and re-doing the edging. We have been contemplating what to plant in the front, but with summer winding down we will be waiting on this part of the project until next spring most likely. For now, at least some light reaches our basement without the overgrown shrubbery in front!

<![CDATA[Dazzling Daisies]]>Sat, 11 Jul 2015 01:53:43 GMThttp://revuporganics.com/blog/dazzling-daisiesPicture
To the left you will see the picture of my dear grandmother, Kay McCarthy, standing in front of her home. In Columbia, MO when it gets hot, it gets HOT. She has been watering her flowers with Rev at the recommended rate of 1 ounce per gallon of water every 7-14 days all summer long, and you can see the result. In her own words, "I've been getting a lot of people stopping as they walk in front of my house almost giving funny looks, because they just can't believe how big my daisies are. It's almost comical to watch their reaction!" You can see all the signs of healthy and living biology in the soil that these goliath daisies are happy to be growing in.

Thank you, Kay, for sharing your Revved up daisies with us!

<![CDATA[Risk vs. Reward]]>Tue, 27 Jan 2015 02:14:17 GMThttp://revuporganics.com/blog/risk-vs-rewardPicture
We've all heard the saying, "Money doesn't grow on trees!" at some point in our lives. It was most likely being said to us by someone that cares for us in one situation or another. While this saying is obviously true in the literal sense, it is quite false in the figurative sense. For farmers, professional gardeners, greenhouse owners and anyone else that depends on growing and harvesting goods; that saying could not be further from the truth. A growers livelihood depends on the successful harvest of their plants or crops! This is where the title of this blog post comes into play. Risk vs. Reward... yet another familiar idiom that I am sure we have all heard at one point or another.

No matter what type of person you are, as a grower your only goal for next year is a BETTER HARVEST... I can tell you why... Not because the fields look prettier when they are fuller and healthier (though this is true)... Certainly not because harvest is any easier when there is more crop to collect... Not because it just feels warm and fuzzy having a "positive" year... There is one reason that ALL growers strive for a better harvest, and that is because their well being, and the well being of their families depends on it. That is an honorable reason in my humble opinion.

Now, if you have read this post, I urge you to do some research on our products... Why? Because, for a small "risk" you have the potential for great "reward". How much does it cost if you just want to TRY Dakota Rev to see for yourself just how it will impact your well being? Only $250.00 will get you enough Dakota Rev for a 20 acre test run delivered to your door. There have been plenty that have done this in the past... and there have been plenty that were upset they didn't just apply it to everything right off the bat. Do you want an even smaller trial? Give us a call. We would be happy to talk with you and work out a solution that fits your needs. If there is one point I can't stress enough, it is that we are in this business to bring people solutions. We strive to be knowledgeable, genuine, and work in the best interest of PEOPLE. If you are on the fence about how to improve your harvest, please give us a call. We'd appreciate the opportunity to get to know you.

Thanks, from Doug and Cap at Glacial Lake Organics L.L.C.

<![CDATA[Is there support for organic carbon? Well, yes... Yes, there is.]]>Fri, 05 Dec 2014 23:46:11 GMThttp://revuporganics.com/blog/is-there-support-for-organic-carbon-well-yes-yes-there-isHere is a question for you. What is the best testimonial you can have for a service or product that you provide?

Is it a testimonial provided by yourself after using and researching the product you are representing? Or is it better to have a testimonial provided by someone who is a believer in your type of product, but does not directly represent it? Perhaps even better yet having a skeptic use your product with great results! That is a great way to show that your product works because you managed to make a believer out of someone! All of these are fantastic to have and between us and Dakota themselves, all of these are forms of testimonials that are on hand. However, I have one more type that is overlooked, and is as important as any.

How about having a "testimonial" provided by a person/group that has done research and supports your product without even knowing your product exists? They have NO stake in your product and most likely they have no knowledge that it even exists at all, yet they have an entire website dedicated to research, terms, details, explanations and knowledge that absolutely supports everything your product is, provides, and is all about! That is what we have here. I can't call this direct support or a testimonial for us, because like I said these people do not know about us. Their research was not to support us, it was to raise awareness! The problems happening within the soil are real and are NOT fixed with fertilizers.

A team of 13 University Professors along with several students have put together a website called SoilQuality.Org this website is a fantastic resource if you are wondering just exactly what Dakota products are. Follow me for a second as I point out a few things that caught my attention while reading this site...

On this page CLICK HERE they list some common problems associated with harvested soils. Along with the problems they list symptoms along with some options for improving soil. Look closely and you will see that one underlying problem is listed under almost every symptom... Low organic matter... So what is their solution? Spreading manure... I know of farmers that do this, but not on a large scale and certainly not in an efficient manner that is going to provide long term benefits... Why? Because manure still has a LONG way to go in terms if decomposition to become Organic Matter... Look at this chart below. I have highlighted the category that Dakota products fall under for your convenience. Make sure you read the "Why it is important" paragraph underneath.
One last point I have to make. Where else you can you find PURE, NON-Extracted, natural organic matter and organic carbon in a form that immediately provides benefits both short and long term to your soil? If you have more than one answer for that, try this one... Where else can you find all of that in form to be applied without adding any cost in labor, time, or fuel? Remember, Dakota Rev is a liquid concentrate made to mix with your current program. For as little as $11.25 per acre you can provide unlimited acreage with the very important soil organic matter and organic carbon that it needs in order to function efficiently at the same time you apply your fertilizer, or mix with water and apply separately.

<![CDATA[Reading testimonials is one thing...]]>Mon, 19 May 2014 23:45:07 GMThttp://revuporganics.com/blog/reading-testimonials-is-one-thingNothing more satisfying than results first hand
Hello,

After months of reading articles, test results, testimonials and researching topics about organics, compost teas, and other forms of soil amendments I became less intrigued with comments made by other people. I realized that listening to what someone else has done or hearing about the results someone else has gotten using any product is MUCH different than using it for yourself and seeing the results happen in your OWN application. We did a very simple small scale test that ANYONE can do, just to see for ourselves how incredible Dakota products are... and we were not disappointed.

To the left you can see here what we did. We bought two identical packs of Dianthus flower seeds. We planted some from each pack in a flower pot of Dakota Soil and Plant Enhancer, and some in a flower pot of Schultz Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss.

In the flower pot of Dakota Soil and Plant Enhancer, we mixed 2-3 drops of REV into the water bottle for watering throughout this entire test. Both pots were watered at the same time and the same amount as well as kept right next to each other at all times. NO FERTILIZERS were used on either plant. This was just PURE and simple to see the difference in Dakota products versus others that are supposedly in the "same league." It is not recommended to use only SPE when potting, it should be mixed in with potting soil for the best results.

7 Days after planting

Here is a picture taken 7 days after planting these flowers. On the lower left is the REV treated flowers in Dakota SPE, and the upper right is the plain water in Sphagnum Peat Moss. You can see that the Dakota flowers are the first to sprout.

Germination does happen faster and at a higher rate and has been proven in other official university studies involving Dakota REV and SPE. Our small test just reinforces what has already been established.

24 Days after planting

The photo says it all! This is 24 days after planting and our Dakota products make the difference VERY easy to see. Keep in mind that Dakota is not meant to be used ALONE. Dakota REV and Dakota SPE are soil enhancers, which means they increase the effectiveness of fertilizers and other products. To see what Dakota products can do on their very own is encouraging! We have also planted peas, and tomatoes. More pictures to come!

<![CDATA[The ball is rolling!]]>Mon, 28 Apr 2014 02:18:17 GMThttp://revuporganics.com/blog/the-ball-is-rollingWell, the end of April is upon us and what an exciting month it has been! We now have numerous farmers that will be using REV this year and that means we will have some great local feedback! I know from talking with Robin at Dakota there will be thousands of acres throughout the U.S. being treated with REV this year so you can bet there will be plenty of other stories coming in from all over the map! What a testament to the results that Dakota products provide. If you have any questions give us a call or email us! We would be happy to chat or send you more information at your request! Thanks, Cap and Doug from Glacial Lake Organics. ]]><![CDATA[An update from Dakota]]>Mon, 27 Jan 2014 03:22:41 GMThttp://revuporganics.com/blog/an-update-from-dakota

Hello,

I do not have a lot to report about quite yet. We are still trying hard to educate people so they can have the choice of going with REV. We are really looking for people willing to do test plots in our area. Many of the people we have spoken with say that they would be more willing to try it if there was some local feedback about this product. We would be glad to have that as well! Anyone who would like to work with us please give us a call at (507) 216-1061 or email us at Richards@revuporganics.com. Doing a test plot and agreeing to provide feedback for others in our area is important to us, and would result in a great deal for you on the REV needed for use.

Now, on to what Robin DuFault is telling us from up in East Grand Forks. Last year several farmers used REV on a combined total of a few thousand acres. The results were great even though EGF endured a drought and the growing conditions were much less than ideal. This year already all of the farmers who used it last year have pre-ordered enough REV for their respective acreages, and new farmers have already pre-ordered as well. To top it off, the only negative feedback the farmers are providing is that the 270 Gallon tote tanks are NOT BIG ENOUGH. They want REV in 1,000 Gallon tanks to simplify getting it to the fields where they can refill their sprayers. Dakota is already working on a solution for this.

We will keep this updated! Thanks, Cap and GLO.
